We Built Itinara Because Trip Planning Was Broken
It started with a teenager, a passport, and a parent staring at seventeen browser tabs.
Our founder's teenager isn't the beach-and-resort type. She's the one who wants to spend two hours in a natural history museum, asks why a 14th-century church has flying buttresses, and insists on finding the exact spot where a historical event happened. Try planning a 10-day trip for someone like that using mainstream travel sites.
You get "Top 10 Things to Do in Rome." A listicle. No sense of how long anything takes, no transport between stops, no idea whether the museum is closed on Mondays or whether the kid will melt down from hunger before you reach the next attraction. Planning a detailed, day-by-day itinerary that actually accounts for a curious mind — with proper timing, dining options for picky eaters, and rest breaks that don't feel like wasted time — was an exercise in spreadsheet archaeology.
That frustration became Itinara.
What We Actually Do
Itinara creates day-by-day travel itinerariesthat treat you like an adult who wants specifics, not vibes. Every itinerary includes actual start times, transport between stops, dining options with dietary tags, contextual tips that are genuinely useful ("the side entrance has no queue before 9:30am"), and pacing that matches how you actually travel.
We build for every kind of traveler — families with small kids who need early dinners and rest breaks, couples looking for intimate rooftop restaurants, budget backpackers who want the $2 street food, seniors who prefer a gentler pace, and yes, families with studious teenagers who want the deep-cut museums.
Our Approach
The Teenager Approves
She's been our toughest beta tester. If an itinerary passes her "but why?" filter — why this museum and not that one, why lunch here, why walk instead of taxi — then it's good enough for anyone. We think that level of intentionality is what travel planning should feel like.
Itinara is based in the United States. We're a small, opinionated team that believes travel planning should be as enjoyable as the trip itself.
