Las Bóvedas

This atmospheric cluster of underground military dungeons and storage chambers dates back to the 1700s and once housed political prisoners and slaves in oppressive conditions. Walking through the cool, arched brick tunnels beneath the old fortifications offers a sobering glimpse into Cartagena's colonial past and the dark history locked within these walls. Today, Las Bóvedas has been transformed into a lively marketplace where local artisans sell crafts and souvenirs alongside the historical remnants.
