Perched dramatically on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus, this 15th-century fortress was built by Mehmed II to control maritime traffic before his conquest of Constantinople. The weathered stone towers and crumbling walls whisper stories of Ottoman military strategy, offering sweeping views across the strait to its European counterpart, Rumeli Fortress. Walking through its narrow passages feels like stepping into a preserved slice of medieval Istanbul.
