This sprawling 7.6-hectare plaza is Paris's grandest open space, where manicured gardens, ornate fountains, and the soaring Egyptian obelisk create an almost theatrical sense of scale and magnificence. Named for peace after the French Revolution's bloodiest chapter, the square has transformed into a symbol of harmony, framed by elegant 18th-century buildings and offering stunning views toward the Champs-Élysées and Tuileries Garden. The interplay of classical architecture and open sky here makes it feel less like a typical city square and more like an open-air palace courtyard.
