Boulders Beach (African Penguins)

Boulders Beach is a sheltered cove where endangered African penguins waddle freely among giant granite boulders, creating an enchanting and surprisingly intimate wildlife experience just minutes from the city. The protected colony has grown from a handful of birds in the 1980s to over 3,000 residents today, making it one of only two mainland penguin colonies in Africa. Crystal-clear turquoise waters lap at the shore while penguins dive, splash, and nest among the rocks in their natural habitat.
