El Badi Palace

This sprawling ruined palace once gleamed as one of Morocco's most magnificent structures, commissioned by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in the late 16th century to celebrate his military victories. Today, its open courtyards and crumbling walls offer haunting glimpses of former grandeur, with decorative tilework and carved ceilings surviving in protected corners. The palace's vast emptiness—stripped of its treasures over centuries—paradoxically creates an evocative space where you can almost hear the echoes of royal ceremonies.
