That's what it takes, by our clock, to stand before everything worth standing before in the New York City region — roughly 116 hours of it. And that's just to see it once. Enjoying it is extra.

Every attraction in our library carries one small, unglamorous fact: how long a visit actually takes. A lighthouse is twenty minutes and a photo; a great museum swallows an afternoon whole; a theme park takes your entire day and asks about tomorrow. Add those hours up honestly — we did, across 837 timed attractions in 55 American destinations — and the sums say something no brochure will: how much city there actually is.

The totals redraw the map. But depth is its own geography: in Orlando, only 16 attractions clear our bar, yet they average 4.3 hours apiece — a place with no small plans, where every stop is the day's main event. The Spokane area runs the opposite way, taking its sights in 1.3-hour sips — built for the traveler who'd rather taste twelve things than marry one.
